چکیده

Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) system with Continuous Phase Modulation (CPM) mappers is considered. Such a system is known to provide superior bit error rate performance by virtue of the memory introduced by the CPM mapper compared to OFDM systems with conventional memoryless mappers such as BPSK and QPSK. In this paper, the ability of CPM mappers in an OFDM system to reduce Peak-to-Average Power Ratio (PAPR) is examined as a function of modulation parameters of mappers and the number of subcarriers used in the system. Firstly, three subclasses of CPM mappers, namely, single-h CPFSK, multih CPFSK, and Asymmetric multi-h CPFSK are considered and their PAPR performance is assessed. Next, these mappers in conjunction with SLM technique are considered and their PAPR performance is examined. A comparison of the PAPR reduction capability of CPM mappers relative to memoryless BPSK mappers in an OFDM system is presented. It is noted that, in general, CPM mappers offer superior PAPR performance compared to memoryless mappers in an OFDM system. Also, it is shown that CPM mappers with SLM technique in an OFDM system can offer significant improvement in PAPR performance.

A Comparison between SLM, PTS, and CF Schemes for the Reduction of PAPR of OFDM System with CPM Mappers

In this paper, three existing reduction techniques are applied to different Orthogonal Freqency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) in Continuous Phase Modulation (CPM) mappers. particularly, selecteive mapping (SLM), partial transmit sequence (PTS), and clippling and filtering (CF) techniques are investigated. The analysis was performed for an OFDM system with CPM mappers with 128 and subcarriers. it...

An Efficient Scheme for PAPR Reduction of OFDM based on Selected Mapping without Side Information

Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) has become a promising method for many wireless communication applications. However, one main drawback of OFDM systems is the high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). Selected mapping (SLM) is a well-known technique to decrease the problem of high PAPR in OFDM systems. In this method, transmitter is obliged to send some bits named side informati...

A Low Complexity Forward Error Correction for PAPR reduction in OFDM Systems

In this paper, a Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR) reduction technique in Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) systems is proposed. This technique uses error correction capability of channel coding to reduce the PAPR.The coded bits at the input of OFDM modulator are separated into two groups of the Most Significant Bits (MSB) and the LeastSignificant Bits (LSB). The bits are mappe...

Selective Tone Reservation Method for PAPR Reduction of Spatially Multiplexed OFDM Systems

Tone Reservation (TR) is one of the well-known methods for PAPR reduction of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) systems. In this method some sub-carriers are reserved for PAPR reduction and the symbols in these sub-carriers are selected such that the PAPR of the OFDM frame is minimized. In this paper, the iterative algorithm introduced earlier for TR method in single antenna OFDM...
